PETABAND BlackBerrys (Z10, Q10, and Q5): These BlackBerrys will work with GSM, HSPA, and possibly LTE carriers once unlocked.
iDEN BlackBerrys (8350i, 7100i, etc): These BlackBerrys are not unlockable via code. Flashing is required to use them on other iDEN networks. WARNING! - They are not compatible with other carriers.
GSM ONLY BlackBerrys (8900, 8310, 8520, etc): These BlackBerrys will only work with GSM networks after being unlocked. Canadians and Americans beware: Not all carriers are GSM carriers. Your phone will NOT work with non-GSM carriers.
GSM/HSPA BlackBerrys (9xxx series models except for 95xx and 96xx series): These BlackBerrys are the most common and are used by most carriers. Once unlocked, you will be able to use all GSM/HSPA carriers at 3G/2G speeds.
GSM/AWS BlackBerrys (ALL models offered by Wind, Mobilicity, and Videotron): These BlackBerrys are from Canada and the USA only (Wind, Mobilicity, and Videotron in Canada) and will only work with AWS or GSM carriers after unlocking (AWS 1700 and 2100Mhz frequencies). Your phone will only work at 2G speeds on GSM carriers.
CDMA ONLY BlackBerrys (8330, 9330, etc): These BlackBerrys are NOT unlockable and can only be used with the original carrier. They do not have SIM cards or IMEI numbers. They are generally not worth flashing in order to use with other CDMA carriers.
GSM/CDMA BlackBerrys (9530, 9630, 9830, 9930, etc): These BlackBerrys will only work with the original locked-to CDMA carrier and GSM networks after being unlocked. Your phone will only work at 2G speeds on GSM carriers. Note: Once unlocked you will need to set your phone to GSM only in the manage connections menu to connect to GSM networks. You will see an “activation required” message once unlocked, but this is cosmetic only and does not affect the ability to use GSM carriers. You can, if you wish, purchase a SPC/MSL code from us to change this message to the user’s phone number.
Note for Canadians: Rogers, Fido, and Chatr are the only GSM carriers in Canada.
